Why My Clients Choose Me

Planning for the future is, above all, about protecting the people you love.

For many of my international clients, the assets they hold in France represent far more than money. A family home filled with memories, the result of a lifetime’s work, savings, investments or life insurance policies — a legacy they want to preserve and pass on to those they love with confidence and peace of mind.

But when your life and assets span France and other countries, thins can quickly become complex.

  • $
How can you be sure you understand documents from another country, based on unfamiliar rules and procedures?
  • $
Which country’s law will apply to my estate when I pass away?
  • $
What's the best way to prepare for this situation to make things easier for the family?
  • $
What will the tax implications be in each country involved?

That's exactly when I step in.

When certain options are no longer available

CUSTOMER CASE STUDY

A real-life case from our firm, anonymized
A family had owned assets in France and abroad for many years. The transfer of these assets had never been planned from an international perspective.

When the issue actually arose, some solutions that might have been considered earlier were no longer feasible. It was now necessary to deal with choices that had already been made, multiple legal systems, and limited room for maneuver.

The cost of failing to plan ahead is not always immediately quantifiable. It can be financial, but also legal, familial—and sometimes human.

PLANNING AHEAD MEANS KEEPING YOUR OPTIONS OPEN.

Why hire a lawyer if there's a notary?

This is a question that almost all of my international clients ask.
In reality, the two do not do the same thing, and their functions and actions are complementary.

THE NOTARY

GUARANTOR OF THE DOCUMENTS

As a public officer, the notary ensures that certain legal arrangements and estate matters comply with French legal formalities and carries out mandatory procedures, such as registrations.

THE LAWYER - ME

YOUR EXCLUSIVE ADVISOR, YOUR PROJECT MANAGER

I am your trusted advisor and will guide you with a comprehensive approach: foresight, strategy, coordination, and security—both in France and internationally.

In a cross-border context, careful legal, wealth and tax planning brings invaluable peace of mind — helping to reduce the risk of future disputes, unexpected inheritance costs and double taxation for your family.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - FAQ

QUESTIONS MY CLIENTS OFTEN ASK

Which country’s law will apply to my estate?

This depends on several factors, including your country of residence and any choice of applicable law you may have made. The EU Succession Regulation allows you, in certain circumstances, to choose the law that will govern your succession. Together, we will determine the approach best suited to your situation and your wishes.

Will my foreign will be valid in France?

It depends on the situation and, in particular, the types of assets involved. A review allows you to verify the validity of your arrangements and ensure they are secure.

How can I protect my spouse while preserving my children’s interests?

There are several options available in France, depending on your situation. After reviewing your situation and discussing it with you, we’ll work together to find the right balance for your family.

How can double taxation be addressed in an international succession?

Inheritance tax laws in both countries are governed by specific rules. We assess these implications while you are still alive to help you avoid unpleasant surprises at the time of the transfer.

Can everything be handled remotely if I live abroad?

Yes. Our firm is fully digital: video calls, electronic signatures, and the same level of service no matter where you are. You don't need to come in.

Can we communicate in English?

Yes, of course. As a Swedish national and a lawyer admitted to the Paris Bar, I have extensive international experience, including as in-house counsel for a US company. We can communicate in English, French or Swedish — whichever you prefer.

Do you work with my notary?

Yes. I coordinate directly with your notary, wherever they are based in France. If you do not have one yet, I can put you in touch with a notary experienced in international matters, while remaining your point of contact throughout.

When is the right time to start planning?

The earlier, the better. Planning during your lifetime gives you more options to protect your loved ones, organise your affairs and plan ahead with confidence.

LET'S PREPARE FOR THE FUTURE TOGETHER

Planning your estate is one of the most important decisions you’ll make for your family.
It deserves to be planned for calmly while you are still alive.

My role is to provide you with a comprehensive overview, to protect your loved ones, and
to help you move forward with confidence, in your own language, at every step.
