A lawyer, an attorney counsel, but not only.
Also a bridge between cultures, legal systems, disciplines...
and people.
You live abroad, are an investor, a property owner, an heir, or a creative entrepreneur.
Do you have a project or situation to manage in France and a thousand questions, often without answers?
The procedures are unclear, the people you need to talk to are inaccessible, and the vocabulary is incomprehensible.
You feel lonely, and sometimes even invisible.
And yet, all you need is someone who truly understands you.
Someone who speaks your language, who knows your references, your codes, your expectations.
Take 2 minutes to get to know me
My name is Sara Byström, and I am a member of the Paris Bar.
Originally from Sweden and fluent in three languages (French, English, and Swedish), I have been living and working in France for over 30 years.
My background is a blend of cultures, disciplines, and passions, and it is precisely these intersections that are my strength today.
I become a real point of contact in France for my clients .
I help them find their way, understand, and make decisions with confidence.
Above all, I prevent them from feeling lost, misinformed, or misunderstood.

My approach?
Rigorous, human support, deeply tailored to your reality.
I explain. I translate. I represent.
I adapt to your language, your culture, your constraints.
And I take the time to listen, to find the right solution at the right time.
My clients often tell me:
“You are our right-hand woman.”
“You have thought of everything.”
“You were able to express what I couldn't put into words.”
Need additional expertise?
I draw on my network of trusted international network of partners (notaires, specialized attorneys, brokers, certified public accountants, real estate experts, bailiffs, ushers, etc.).
Together, we'll always find the best way to serve you.
MY STORY? IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT MY DEGREES
- I initially studied literature, communication, and visual documentation, before shifting my focus to business law, intellectual property (particularly copyright), and then cultural heritage law.
- After an internship at a stock photo agency, I went on to establish the first legal department in France for a photo agency, the renowned “Sygma” agency (which later became “Corbis Sygma,” owned by a certain Bill Gates). I experienced the digital revolution and international law firsthand, and I also wrote about and taught the law as it pertains to images and their unique characteristics.
- I have taught internationally, in English, at art, business, and photography schools.
- I learned French in Switzerland, Sweden, and France. I also represented France for 10 years in an international scientific commission dedicated to cultural heritage.
- Today, after studying real estate law, family law, probate law, and personal estate law, I work with notaries, tax specialists, real estate agents, and other trusted partners, both in France and abroad. My clients often say that I’m “the notaries’ best friend”!
And to those who ask me, "What is your specialty?"
I reply:
My specialty is adaptability.
My studies taught me about the law, legal rules, and legal structures.
My experience at an international company has allowed me to consistently apply the law, work collaboratively, and operate in a project-based environment.
As for my personality, my keen sense of observation, my sensitivity, and my cultural perspective, they all stem from my personal history.
I come from a family where the arts play a major role.
My father, mother, grandfather, and grandmother were all professional painters, so I grew up in artists’ studios surrounded by colors, brushes, paintings, and other works of art, immersed in creativity from morning till night.
Other forms of artistic expression, especially music and singing, were also always a part of our lives. My father was a multi-talented artist with a musician’s ear; my uncles and cousins were classical musicians, and my cousin was a renowned soprano.
This particularly enriching environment instilled in me, from a very early age , an eye for detail, a commitment to excellence, and the ability to listen carefully.

When I was little, I played the violin, painted, and sewed, before later discovering Japanese calligraphy with my teacher, Hiroko Kimura—Kimura-san.
This wonderful and elegant art of ink drawing requires patience, precision, and discipline.
Qualities that I find useful in my work as a lawyer today.
All of these artistic traditions and practices shape the way I perceive things and people and guide my approach to my work.
My creative work further enhances my cultural sensitivity and my attention to the unique aspects of each situation and each of my clients’ projects.

And then there’s craft beer*. Yes, you read that right.
It’s a family story, too: my maternal grandfather, Johan Alfred Sandwall, opened Sweden’s first “pils” (lager) brewery in 1862.
Today, I’m active in the association Les Buveuses de Bière, where I share that same passion for precision, for sharing, and for a commitment to quality…but in a glass.
I also lead “Craft & Craft” workshops there, where we get hands-on (knitting, sewing, drawing, etc.) while sampling the latest creations. It’s the perfect way to bring all my traditions together!
